- Booking on your
LHR-THR sector as well as your domestic flights within Iran must
take place simultaneously.
- Time limit for
ticket purchase must be fully observed to prevent ticket
cancellation.
- Both LHR-THR and THR-LHR
must be REconfirmed 72 hours prior to departure to avoid
reservation cancellation.
- Be Careful not to lose
your tickets or boarding passes. A boring and inconvenient formality
must be followed in the event of ticket/boarding pass loss, as well
as a re-issue fee of 35GBP per passenger, so please look after them
carefully.
- All Iran
Air flights operate out of Heathrow airport terminal 3. From central London, the Piccadilly
line underground train takes about an hour to reach Heathrow, plus a
further 10-15 minute walk through the walkway to terminal 3. Further
information on access, and facilities at Heathrow airport can be found
at the BAA website.
- Iran Air has 6
check-in desks at Terminal 3 Heathrow, located towards the end of
the departures hall in section F. There is a separate desks for Homa class
(1st class) ticket holders, ticket sales, and freight/excess
luggage. You may purchase tickets from the sales desk on the day of the
flight, if seats are available. However, you must ensure that you arrive
at the desk at least 2 hours prior to departure.
Due to the large number of
passengers (over 400) checking in per flight, and the pre-boarding
security checks at Heathrow, it is recommended that you arrive at Heathrow
at least 3 hours prior to your flight. Check-in desks close 45 minutes
prior to take-off. You will not be able to check in after the desk
closes.
- Passengers with special
needs, e.g. requiring wheelchairs, should request during booking, and contact Iran Air airport staff
as early as possible to make arrangements.
- Transit passengers arriving
in Heathrow, either from trans-Atlantic flights, or from Tehran, must
present their tickets and baggage tags at the transfer desk of their next
connecting carrier ( e.g. Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Iran Air,
etc.).
- Please ensure that all your
baggage comply with the following requirements, both for safety reasons,
and to avoid later problems with baggage handling services.
- Only one item of
hand luggage is allowed on board, weight not exceeding 5KG, and no
larger than 50x35x20cm in dimension. Also, a camera, a coat, an umbrella,
a book or newspaper, may be carried on board.
- Animals may not be
carried in the passenger cabin of Iran Air flights. Please contact
Iran Air staff to make arrangements.
- The baggage allowance is
30KG for adults, economy class; and 40KG for Homa class, of luggage per
passenger.
- Gross weight of each
piece of luggage must not exceed 30KG.
- The charge for excess luggage is
10GBP per KG, payable at check-in points, as well as boarding gate, in the
event of over weight or over sized hand luggage .
- Clearly label all items
of luggage with your name and contact details, on an appropriately
visible location.
- Avoid packing cash,
important documents, and other valuable items in your checked in
luggage.
- You are not carrying any
unknown or suspicious articles on behalf of anyone, or accepted to
check-in or carry luggage on board on behalf of anyone, or
left your baggage unattended at any time prior to check-in. Neither
is anyone else carrying or checking in baggage on your behalf.
- Airport security will not allow any sharp objects, or anything
that may be used as a weapon to be carried onboard a flight.
- Carrying liquids,
foodstuff, perishable material and all other similar materials
is forbidden.
- Carrying
alcoholic drinks, narcotics, hazardous chemicals, explosives/pyrotechnics
and firearms are strictly forbidden.
- No dangerous goods or
restricted articles as listed below have been left in your luggage:
- Explosive,
munitions, fireworks, flares, etc.
- Compressed gas
containers, either flammable, non-flammable, toxic,
refrigerated, e.g. camping gas, lighter fuel, aerosols etc.
- Flammable solids,
such as matches, or other material which are easily ignited, or
may spontaneously combust, or emit harmful or flammable gases on
contact with water.
- Oxidizing
substances, e.g. bleaches, peroxides, etc.
- Toxic and infectious
substances.
- Radioactive
material.
- Corrosives, e.g.
acids, wet-cell and alkaline batteries, etc.
- Magnetized
materials, and other goods listed in the IATA dangerous goods
regulations.
- For safety reasons, use
of the following electronic devices is not permitted on board Iran
Air flights:
- Mobile/satellite/portable
phones or walkie-talkies.
- Radio remote control
toys or devices.
- Cathode ray tube
screens.
- Any other device
that emits EM radiation that may interfere with aircraft
equipment.
Baggage Loss and Liability
Limitation:
- In the event of loss of
luggage, on the outbound trip to Tehran, please go to the luggage help desk, in
the baggage lounge in Mehrabad airport, Tehran. On return to Heathrow,
contact Iran Air staff at Heathrow, on (020) 8564 9806, or the following
address: Terminal 3 Arrivals building, opposite belt #4, Tel. (020)
8757 0564.
- Baggage will only be
delivered to the bearer of the baggage check-in receipt, so please ensure
that the names on the baggage tags, match your receipts at the check-in
desk.
- Iran Air assumes no
liability for fragile, valuable or perishable items. Liability for loss
or damage to baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in
advance, and additional charges are paid. Iran Air liability limit is
approximately 20USD per KG of checked baggage.
- Any instance of baggage
loss, damage, tampering or theft must be reported immediately to the
appropriate carrier, or the airport authorities in the final
destination, e.g. the lost & found desk in Heathrow.
